Welcome to the Folk Process Archive.

Digital community engagement projects for the music we love.

  • Widespread Panic

We are proud to be working with the Hanson Brothers (makers of the 2002 Widespread Panic documentary 'The Earth Will Swallow You') and others in the Widespread Panic community to create crowdsourced and institutional archives. We are building archives that focus on the Mikey-era (1985-2002), George-era (2002-2006), Jimmy-era (2006-present), 'Panic in the Streets', and the 1998 and 1999 European tours.

You can submit to the archive via our partnership with LYRASIS.

  • Col Bruce Hampton Zambi Archive

We are proud to be working with Michael Koepenick, the director and writer of 'Basically Frightened: The Musical Madness of Col Bruce Hampton', and others in the Zambi community to create an archive of Col Bruce's innumerable contributions to the musical and cultural legacy of late 20th and early 21st century America.

  • Partners

We are working with a growing number of institutional and content partners to create active and accessible archives. These projects rely on fair usage terms and long-term preservation because, as we say, 'YouTube is not an archive'. It is an incredible discovery platform, but not an archive designed to preserve culture. That is the job of libraries and museums.
